FOREST WHITAKER TO HOST ALL STAR CONCERT
New York, NY – Untitled Theatricals announced recently that Academy Award, Golden Globe & BAFTA winner and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace & Reconciliation, Forest Whitaker will host the Performers4Peace benefit concert Monday, May 9, 2016 at 8pm at 42West (514 West 42nd Street www.42west.com), featuring performances by Broadway artists to support the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative’s work in peace and community building.
Performers include Drama Desk Award winner Derrick Baskin (“Difficult People,” Memphis, Spelling Bee), Tony Award nominee Daniel Breaker (“Mozart in the Jungle,” The Book of Mormon, Passing Strange), Bryan Terrell Clark (“Person of Interest,” Motown), Patrice Covington (The Color Purple), Mara Davi (A Chorus Line, Drowsy Chaperone, Dames at Sea, White Christmas), Alysha Deslorieux (Hamilton, Beautiful, Sister Act), Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews (co-author’s of Invisible Thread recently at Second Stage, The Family Project), Carly Hughes (Chicago, Pippin, The Book of Mormon), Tony Award & Drama Desk Award winner James Monroe Iglehart (Aladdin, Memphis, Spelling Bee), Marcus Paul James (Rent, In the Heights, Motown), Mykal Kilgore (“The Wiz Live,” Motown, The Book of Mormon), Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Dames at Sea, Matilda, Zorro the Musical [West End]), American Idol & Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages, Jekyll & Hyde, Friend Art), Jill Paice (An American in Paris, Matilda, The 39 Steps), Catherine Ricafort (Disaster!, Allegiance), Tony Award nominee Brandon Uranowitz (An American in Paris, Baby It’s You!) and the Broadway Dreams choir.
ChoclattJared is a Master Bucket Drummer, who had significant features by five-time Grammy Award winning artist, Lauryn Hill on her album and world tour. He created the percussion segment in the four-time Tony Award winning musical, Bring in Da Noise Bring in Da Funk, and has worked with broad spectrum of artists, including Usher, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin and Beyonce, among others.
Julie James is the Program Director of Sirius XM Radio's On Broadway and Metropolitan Opera Radio stations and hosts "Broadway Names with Julie James" where she takes her listeners on the town, backstage and into the studio for fun, lively conversations with the biggest and best of Broadway and beyond. James Monroe Iglehart is currently starring as The Genie in Disney Theatrical’s Aladdin, and recently announced the Drama League Awards nominations and is part of Freestyle Love Supreme.
Olivier Award nominee Stafford Arima (Allegiance, The Secret Garden in Concert, Ragtime [West End], Carrie, Altar Boyz) will direct.
Performers4Peace is produced by Untitled Theatricals (An American in Paris, Hughie, Dames at Sea) in association with Langfelder Presents (LLC). The concert will be music directed by Juilliard alumna Annastasia Victory (Little Dancer, Leap of Faith, 3 Mo’ Divas), and the band will be comprised of musicians from various Broadway shows (The Lion King, Les Miserables, An American in Paris and The Color Purple, among others).
